Several media had reported the talented singer was on the verge of leaving the MAVIN camp to setup his own outfit ‘Black Diamond Records‘.
However, in a statement released on the MAVIN website, Wande denied the news stating that ‘there have been no such plans’.
‘There have been no such plans, and I
wish to remain in Mavin Records. ’Mavin Records is my family and will
always remain so. I want to thank all my fans for continuing to support
me. We still have a very long journey ahead’, Wande Coal said in the statement.
But the rumours are nothing new. Before Mo’hits packed up,
it was generally believed Wande, one of the label’s more promising
properties, was seeking a way out. He spent the first lines of a recent
single ‘Been long you saw me‘ addressing those rumours.
Now that they’re resurfacing at Mavin,
pundits are wondering if there’s more to the speculation? ‘There has to
be a reason why he’s the only one being rumoured to be leaving. He has
either considered it, or discussed the possibilities with people. But
generally, I believe there’s something fuelling all the talks’ one
industry insider who asked not to be named told us this morning.
Wande Coal (real names: Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe) hooked up with Don Jazzy and D’banj
and got signed to the defunct Mo’hits records in 2006. He released his
debut ‘From Musin 2 Mo’Hits’ in 2008 to wide critical and
commercial acclaim.
